Why You Need Good Website Copy

A professionally presented business website is a powerful and crucial promotional tool. It’s the first thing prospective customers will look at before they decide to contact you. If the copy on your website is not well written, it may be costing you business. It is not sufficient merely to have impressive graphics and imagery, you need the right content to make it complete. Is the spelling correct? Are punctuation marks accurate? Does the copy make sense? These are questions that website designers should be asking themselves before they publish a new website.

One of the biggest mistakes with website copy is inconsistency. A lack of consistency could deter a significant amount of potential clients from hiring the services of a company that has not proofread their website.

Poor spelling on a website is another costly but avoidable mistake. most visitors will leave the site very soon if they discover too many spelling mistakes. This again will give them the impression that the site owners don’t really care. I am also convinced that copy that has been ‘padded out’ with insignificant trivia is also a big turn-off for visitors. Lucid, concise and informative content is the way to go.

Anything containing textual content must always be proofread. It’s very important that not only are mistakes in spelling, punctuation and grammar found and corrected, but that the text flows smoothly for the reader. The copy on a website should not be viewed as the ‘poor relation’ of the website design project. You can have the most up-to-date, eye-catching graphics available but you will still require well-written copy to compliment them.

There are many web design companies around that will happily inform visitors how they can supply them with a state-of-the-art website but then insert poor copy, which totally negates any good work they have achieved. This will reduce the initial impact of the site, and more often than not will have an adverse effect on business. However, there are also website design companies that use skilled writers so shop around. It pays to have the copy checked professionally, whether the web design company has written it themselves or had it supplied by the client. It may cost much less than you think to have a website proofread and it could cost you much more if you don’t!

Remember, if visitors to your website cannot find the information they are looking for because of badly written copy then they will quickly leave your site. The only ones to benefit will be your competitors.

A great present idea for your family is a periodical subscription

A periodical subscription is a great way to get your favorite magazine on a regular basis. Nowadays it is possible to buy journals and newspapers online. Doing so will help the reader to get their magazine right after it has been published. Periodicals can be very nice gifts, and most vendors offer special gift subscriptions. If you are interested in German newspapers and magazines, the following site reviews some important online suppliers of gift subscriptions: Zeitschrift Neue Woche Geschenkabo.

What are the advantages of subscribing to your favorite magazine instead of buying it each time it is published, and what are some special rules for buying German magazine subscriptions?

Most online suppliers of journals offer special gift subscriptions. These are a very good idea for everybody who is looking for a nice birthday or wedding present. It is important to know that the gifts coming with a new subscription normally cannot be taken by the new customers themselves but by the person who recommended the new reader. So it is useful to order the new subscription together with a friend or family member. One plays the role of the new customer and the other one gets the gift. There are vendors who offer subscriptions without minimum duration. These can be cancelled at any time or can be switched over to another magazine title. However these non minimum duration subscriptions do not come with valuable gifts.

Virtually any newspaper or periodical can be ordered on the internet. So everybody should be able to find their favorite one quickly and easily. A journal subscription without minimum duration can be used as a present itself. If you have chosen the wrong magazine and the presentee does not like the specific journal you can cancel the subscription or switch over to another one. You can simply choose your favorite magazine – e.g. this one: Zeitschrift Sport Auto Geschenkabo – and buy it online in no time. The subscriptions normally come with some very nice benefits. You can get valuable benefits like money, gift vouchers or electronic devices. These benefits are often worth several months of the subscription rate.

You can rely on Eizo and Totoku display technology

Eizo is not a new player in big-size LCD display market. Today the firm updated it’s portfolio with a new 24-inch full HD monitor for colorblind people. Eizo is hoping to set a new benchmark for artists, video editors and other colour-conscious computer users with the launch of the ColorEdge Quietly presented at the PMA photo exposition but made public today, the 30-inch Eizo Flexscan monitors is fashioned to be as true as possible to the color ranges that come along in most video: courtesy of 12-bit color search and 16-bit color processing, the display gets one hundred percent of the NTSC gamut and 97 percent of Adobe’s RGB color space, insuring that a few if any colors will be botched even in photo editing. Eizo is famous for its often specialized monitors. The company returns with two new FlexScan LCDs that promise to cover 95% of the Adobe RGB colour space (and 92% of the NTSC colour gamut).

Totoku’s 22.2-inch CCL901 has a upper limit resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 at 24-bit color, which works out to about 9.2 mp and 200 dpi. The company states this single- or dual-DVI LCD has a native gamma of 1.8 and 500-Kelvin backlights, which we truly hope means something to Photoshop fans out there. Their web site states that the ME551i2 totoku monitore is capable of presentation 2048 shades of gray (per sub-pixel) with an integrated viewer. The ME551i2 has a 11.9-bit search table (LUT) that allows a pallet of 3826 shades of gray and can display 2048 shades with a specialised view and 256 shades without. Totoku displays are constituted of high luminance, high contrast ratios, exceptional viewing angles, and a long life backlight. All Totoku displays include a extractible stand, and are fully height adaptable with a tilt-swivel base.

Liquid crystals are nearly exactly what they sound like: crystalline structures clad in a liquid. When electricity is run through a LCD array, the crystals either enlarge or contract, depending on the signal. Liquid crystals in 2mp monochrome medical grade act as a dynamic polarise agent. They change their orientation when you position a voltage across an LCD cell.

Beautiful Glass Tile: Perfect For Our Home

Shift over ceramic tile, there’s a new top dog in home tiling projects. Like moths to an open flame, more and more people are seeking and using glass tiles for their various tiling projects for the kitchen, bathroom, floors, walls or swimming pools. Glass tiles are more well-liked because they bring depth, elegance, liquid character and luminescence to every surface they are placed in. Although glass tiles have a higher price tag than ceramic tiles, consumers make sure to create a realistic budget to include them because they adore its artistic and handcrafted charm that is surely worth all the cost. Take a minute to read our glass tile page.

The admired glass tile takes form in various shapes and colors. This is depending on the numerous method which are used to generate them. For example, other glass tiles are cut and cold-cooled. In this type of cold processing, no heat is used, just the cutting of the glass. Other glass tiles are made by liquefying, casting and then cooling them. In this type of glass tile processing, sand and chemicals are mixed, melted into a tank and cooled in trays to create cast glass. The end outcome of both types of manufacturing is the evident difference in size, color, appearance, thickness and shape. Some glass tiles even contain tiny bubbles within the tile which creates a wet look. Glass tiles manufactures say that glass tiles are like snowflakes: each is one of a kind. The versatility and range of glass tiles allow contractors and DIYers endless customization for their projects.

Some glass tile doubters are hesistant about its toughness. They assert that glass tiles are, well, glass: breakable and fine. But in truth, glass tiles are indeed sturdy, long lasting and strong as ceramic tiles are. Glass tiles have, in fact, several advantages over ceramic tiles. More resilient than ceramic tiles, glass tiles are non-porous so it does not absorb water or moisture. Therefore, unlike the ceramic tiles, they are not distressed by mold or mildew if installed properly.

Putting in glass tiles are not that different with ceramic tile installation. Though some tile installers might get a bit anxious with glass cutting but overall, installation is pretty much straightforward and easy. Glass tiles are installed by setting the glass unto the designated surface. The thinnest used in application are usually white since glass tiles are transparent. This is to maintain a clean and clear backdrop that won’t change the glass color.

Countless home improvement and tile websites offer a variety of glass tiles that would be ideal for your home. There are matte, iridescent, and glossy types of glass tile. More and more DIYer’s favor using the mosaic glass tiles because they can easily mix and go with the pattern compared when using large field glass tiles. Other artistically inclined homeowners even create abstract design from these mosaic glass tiles to further revamp their homes. Want to make your home greener? Get recycled glass tiles. These recycled glass tiles are made from almost ninety percent of recycled glass from bottles and such. Recycled glass tiles are extremely beautiful and colorful.

Defining Vitiligo

Our skin makes its coloring from pigments. They are colored pigments. People with dark skin have more of these pigments and those with lighter skin have less of them. This pigment is known as melanin.

The main function of melanin is to guard the body from sun rays. That is why, we get tanned when we expose ourselves to sun. Tanning means more production of melanin. Cells known as melanocytes in the skin produce melanin.

If for any reason, the skin begins losing melanin from a patch on the body, light skin develops on that place. This is called vitiligo disease. There is no specific cause known for vitiligo except for the thought that the body destroys the melanin itself. That is why this is called an autoimmune disease (a disease where the body attacks itself).

Vitiligo can develop on the whole body, or it can stop after creating few patches. Anybody can get it on any part of the body. There is no perfect cure for it. There is no prevention for vitiligo. Vitiligo also exposes skin to sun rays and that is dangerous. Let us find out more about it.

Vitiligo can develop on any part of the body, at any age and in anyone. Though it is believed that exposed parts of body have higher chances of developing Vitiligo, it can appear anywhere. Color of skin does not affect the probability of getting vitiligo. Similarly, it can strike both the sexes and at any age and vitiligo therapy for everyone is very similar.

It is estimated that in about one-fifth of the cases, other family members may also have vitiligo. As vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder, its patients are monitored for other autoimmune diseases such as thyroid disorders, alopecia aerta, etc. You should talk to your doctor about this in detail.

Vitiligo begins with a small area of lighter color, which slowly turns to a white patch. Many patches can also develop at the same time. After some time, the discoloration may stop and then restart after some time. Some people may lose all the skin pigment. The hair also loses color at the site of vitiligo.

The cause of vitiligo is not known and so it is difficult to provide a definitive vitiligo cure, but it is thought that either the body destroys the melanin or it destroys itself. But the result is loss of pigment that protects body against sun damage.

I hope this helps you better understand the causes and effects of vitiligo. You shoul seek medical advice should begin to experience this mysterious disorder.

DISCLAIMER: I do hope this helps, but note that I am not a doctor so you must consult with your physician before taking any medical suggestions from the online world.

The Evolution of Swimwear

Introduction

Swimwear is the term used for garments designated for swimming and beach wear. It has gradually developed over the years from the bulky garments used to completely cover the body into the selection of brief pieces of fabric arranged to expose as much as possible of the body.

Finding the right sort of swimwear is not always that easy particularly if you do not have a large budget. There is an enormous variety of body sizes and shapes for both men and women and correspondingly there are an enormous variety of outfits ranging from the very cheap to the very expensive.

Fashion Dictates

If it was just a case of having a bathing costume to wear when going swimming and replacing it when it had worn out, life would be relatively easy. But there is the matter of fashion. Every year the manufacturers come up with a different style so that the previous year’s model suddenly looks old fashioned and we feel compelled to buy a new one. As purchasers we are confronted with one piece swimsuits, two piece swimwear, some with long tops, some with skimpy tops, high leg cut, high waist cut, different cup sizes, in a variety of fabrics, colours, patterns, two tone and so on. The choice is endless.

History of Swimwear

The earliest recorded bathing costume was in 350 BC in Greece which was a toga-like garment for bathing. During the 18th century people visited spa resorts for their health where they spent time in the spa waters. Naturally they needed something proper to wear, other than their day clothes, when they were engaged in public bathing. Later the recreation of beach bathing demanded a specially made outfit to maintain decorum and decency, so the bathing suit was developed.

Initially the swimwear was rather like ordinary daywear, and the dresses worn by the women sometimes had lead weights sewn into the hems to prevent the skirts from floating up. As the expansion of the railways enabled the masses to spend time at the seaside a more practical type of outfit was required. By the early 1900’s the swimsuit consisted of bloomers with black stocking and shoes, and the top was like a jacket belted at the waist. Swimming was considered suitable for men, while women were assisted into the water for a short dip.

Over the century attitudes changed and swimming became an Olympic sport for both men and women. Gradually the swimming costume changed to adopt short capped sleeves and more ankle was exposed beneath the bloomers. As women became more active in the water the swimming costume needed to be less cumbersome so the neckline was lowered and the tops became sleeveless. Eventually the Princess cut was introduced which consisted of the trousers attached to a blouse in one piece.

In 1909 Annette Kellerman, the Australian swimmer, film star and author, defined the future of swimsuits by getting arrested for indecency when she wore what is thought to be the first one piece swimming costume, by 1910 “Annette Kellermans” became the new accepted ladies swimwear.

From then on the swimsuits became lighter and briefer. By the 1920’s the women wore figure hugging tank suits made from wool Jersey and by 1928 they had evolved into the swimsuit we would recognise today. In the 1930’s cotton was introduced for bathing suits sometimes with little overskirts to hide bulky thighs, but film stars wore fashionable figure hugging costumes with higher cut legs sealing the fate of the fashionable swimwear.

The corset manufacturers in the 1940’s saw that women with less than perfect figures needed swimsuits to hide or control the bulges, so seeing a gap in the market they produced costumes which had control panels for the tummy and bra cups and bones to give support to the bust. Using the methods applied in corset making they introduced the stretch factor to bathing costumes so that they were more flattering than ever before.

With the development of modern fabrics, Nylon and Lycra became the fabric of choice for swimwear because of their stretch properties. This meant that the costume could be pulled on without openings or fastenings and gave a firmer cleaner line to the figure. Women continued to wear all in one swimsuits until the 1950’s when the bikini became popular.

Leisure Swimming or Sunbathing

Although certain costumes are called swimwear, in fact some never get near the water. They are solely for sunbathing which usually means they are as small as possible, just barely covering the essential bits so that the skin gets maximum exposure to the sun and such a design would be classed as a bikini.

Two Piece or Bikinis

Over two thousand years ago early mosaics and pottery from Greece depict what in fact looks like an early version of a bikini. These garments were used by women performers and acrobats and were in two pieces to cover the breasts and the lower part of the body, much like the current style of Bandeau tops. Modern day runners and athletes wear something very similar when competing. Paula Radcliffe when running the Marathon last year, wore a garment almost identical to those worn thousands of years ago!!

The bikini resembles women’s underwear and has been described as a scanty two piece bathing suit. The lower part may be two small triangles attached together with a string tie at either side, or even a thong. The upper part may also be two small triangles attached together with a string tie but arranged in a slightly different order. Louis Reard patented the contemporary version of the bikini in 1946; his design was similar to the skimpy string 1970’s bikini and it shocked the world when it appeared on French beaches in 1947.

The very first bikini shown in the cinema was in the Bond film Dr No when Ursula Andress rises out of the sea in a white bikini. This created the iconic Bond girl and made her world famous. When being interviewed on television recently she revealed that the bikini had been constructed out of a bra covered with the fabric to give her the required lift of the bosom. This actual bikini sold at auction for £35,000 in 2001.

As the desire to get a deep tan became more and more popular in the 1980’s and 90’s bikinis got skimpier than ever.

Ultimately the top part of the bikini was abandoned altogether when topless sunbathing became the norm in some countries and the bottom was just a G-string or thong also called a Tanga. Oliver Saillard the fashion journalist states that the bikini is the most popular female beachwear in the world, and that the emancipation of swimwear is linked to the emancipation of women.

In the 1950’s there was a popular song entitled ‘In My little Itsy Bitsy Yellow Polka Dot Bikini’ that indicated the acceptance of the new style of swimwear. I remember my cousin persuading me to try on a bikini and I felt very exposed but she said how amazing I looked in it because I was so slim.

Although the bikini is now an acceptable garment whatever the size, the one piece swimsuit is still the best for serious swimmers. Some businesses are well known for their skill at making swimwear and make all the garments for the Olympic team and other swimming competitions. Now swimwear is available in a wide range of bust sizes and the more expensive makes have control panels for the stomach combined with clever styling to create a good silhouette. Combined with a matching sarong, older ladies may feel more comfortable when walking around the beach area.

Helen Mirren was photographed on holiday in her substantial bikini last summer with the caption commenting on how good she looked for her age and that particular bikini was snapped up from the stores within days. Perhaps the purchasers believed that they could look as good as Helen Mirren in a bikini if they had the same one.

Leg Line

Some two piece bathing suits are cut so that the waist is high and the related leg line is also cut high. I believe the aim is to make the wearer look as though her legs are much longer than they are. However if you have less than the perfect shape for this style it can emphasise large hips so it’s not for all women.

Another fashion style is the tankini where the bottoms look like little shorts and shows the lower curve of the bottom, which is fine if you are young with a nice pert bottom.

The classic bikini style is still as popular as ever though, with the cut of the leg line following the natural crease between the leg and the hip.

The most recent development in fabric is the ‘tan through’ swimwear. This allows the body to tan without exposing the body to the world. Some commentators on this style point to the effects of too much sun on the body and the occurrences of skin cancer of which the evidence indicates an alarming increase. However, the counter argument to that is if you are wearing a bikini anyway then the extra exposure to the sun through the top and bottom garments is hardly going to make much difference.

Conclusion

Swimwear is a term used these days to cover all types of beach wear and swimming gear. It is a bit of a misnomer in that many outfits never see the water and are not used for swimming. However there is a huge range of garments available for the purchaser of different styles, sizes and fabrics. The one commonality of course is that everyone wants to look good once they don these garments. The main key to that is to make sure your new swimwear is the right fit and cut, for your body size and shape.

The importance of being properly measured for your swimwear is often overlooked but it is as important as being properly measured for your bra or other underwear, particularly if you do indeed intend to actually swim in your new swimwear! By wearing the right size and style swimwear for your body, will ensure you are really comfortable in it on the beach, in the pool or wherever else you choose to wear it.
